Declaration of Principles for the Resolution of the Sudanese Conflict in Darfur

The Parties agreed on principles to guide future deliberations and form the basis for a just, comprehensive and durable settlement of the conflict in Darfur, including respect for the diversity of the people of Sudan, democracy and political pluralism, federal government with devolution of powers, effective representation in government institutions, equitable distribution of national wealth, return and assistance for refugees and IDPs, rehabilitation and reconstruction of Darfur, promotion of reconciliation and restoration of peaceful coexistence, sustainable development, broad security arrangements, etc. The Parties agreed that all agreements reached by the Parties would be incorporated into the National Constitution, and that negotiations would be undertaken in good faith to end the conflict.
