Background: John Ikubaje is a Senior Political Officer in the Department of Political Affairs, Peace and Security, at the African Union Commission. He is a seasoned researcher and a Fellow of the United Nations Regional Human Rights System with specialisation in the African Human Rights System. He coordinates, oversees and supervises the African Union Commission’s transitional justice programme. Ikubaje was one of the technical officers who finalised and defended the adoption of the African Union Transitional Justice Policy by the African Union Specialised Technical Committee on Justice and Legal affairs. He has published extensively on good and democratic governance, human rights, anti-corruption and transitional justice. Transitional Justice in the Horn of Africa: Lessons from the Gambia is one of the publications he recently co-authored.
